Business Development Manager

Location: Berkshire (Office-based with regional client travel)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 basic (depending on experience) + uncapped commission (OTE £80,000+)

Benefits: 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays), company phone and laptop, excellent career progression opportunities.

About the Role

Our client is an established healthcare staffing agency supplying temporary healthcare professionals to care homes, nursing homes, private healthcare providers, and other clinical settings across the UK. As part of an exciting growth phase, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new client acquisition and develop long-term commercial partnerships. This is a revenue-generating role with significant earning potential for an ambitious sales professional with experience in healthcare recruitment or temporary staffing.

The Opportunity

This is a new business-focused position where you will be responsible for identifying, winning, and growing new client accounts across the healthcare sector. Working closely with recruitment and operations teams, you will ensure clients receive an exceptional service while building a profitable portfolio of business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a proactive business development strategy targeting care homes, nursing homes, healthcare providers, and clinical organisations.
  • Generate new business through cold calling, networking, client meetings, referrals, tenders, and re-engagement of dormant accounts.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, maintaining accurate CRM records and sales forecasts.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, service agreements, and pricing in line with company objectives.
  • Secure new client accounts and oversee the onboarding process through to regular staffing bookings.
  • Grow existing accounts by identifying opportunities across multiple services and locations.
  • Build strong relationships with decision-makers including Home Managers, Regional Managers, and Directors.
  • Work collaboratively with recruitment and compliance teams to ensure high fill rates and excellent service delivery.
  • Attend client meetings, networking events, and industry conferences as the commercial representative of the business.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing within the healthcare staffing sector.

Performance Targets

  • Building a substantial portfolio of active healthcare clients.
  • Delivering significant annual sales revenue and gross margin growth.
  • Winning and developing new client accounts into long-term trading relationships.
  • Consistently growing weekly staffing volumes across multiple healthcare disciplines.

Commission is uncapped and linked directly to the profitability of new business generated.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven success in business development or sales within healthcare staffing, recruitment, or temporary workforce solutions.
  • Demonstrable experience winning new business and achieving sales or revenue targets.
  • Strong understanding of the UK healthcare and care home sector.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, commercially driven, and confident working towards ambitious targets.
  • Ability to manage a sales pipeline independently from prospecting through to account management.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to client sites.

Desirable

  • Established network of contacts within the care home or healthcare sector.
  • Experience selling preferred supplier, framework, or managed service agreements.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance processes, including DBS, Right to Work, and professional registration requirements.
  • Experience using CRM or applicant tracking systems.
