Springpack is a long-established packaging solutions provider with over 45 years of industrial and transit packaging expertise. The company offers a wide range of transit products, including protective packaging, cardboard boxes, tapes, pallet load stability, polythene products, packing room equipment, and janitorial products. Springpack focuses on reducing packaging costs for customers by improving efficiency and minimizing waste, without compromising on material quality. Orders are dispatched from stock held at its distribution centre in Worcester, UK, enabling reliable next working day delivery for orders received before 3:30pm, with over 98% delivered on time and complete. The business also designs bespoke packaging solutions for customers with unique product or transit requirements and can supply these tailored solutions directly from stock.
Role Description
The Business Development Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Worcester, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities. Day-to-day tasks include prospecting and qualifying leads, conducting client meetings, and following up to onboard. The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with the internal sales support team for preparing quotes and liaise with operations, customer service, and marketing to ensure a seamless customer experience and effective delivery of solutions. The role will also include a lot of support and training from the team and management.

Qualifications

- Humble and honest, energetic, ability to learn and adapt to the Springpack culture and winning formula.
- Demonstrated experience in business development and cold prospecting, ideally within packaging, or fast-paced consumable business.
- Strong relationship-building and client management skills, with the ability to understand customer operations and propose appropriate solutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with confidence in meeting with decision-makers and closing deals.
- Commercial awareness and analytical skills to interpret sales data, identify opportunities, and contribute to pricing and margin decisions.
- Ability to work independently, manage a pipeline of opportunities, and prioritize tasks in a hybrid working environment.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and basic office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, presentations); familiarity with online ordering or e-commerce platforms is beneficial.
- Comfortable travelling to customer sites and within the Worcester area as required for meetings and business development activities.
- Relevant education or training in business, sales, marketing, or a related field is advantageous, though equivalent experience is also valued.
