Business Development Manager - North
Location: North of England (with travel to client sites as required)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive basic salary plus uncapped commission and benefits
About the role:
We are looking for a driven Business Development Manager to grow and manage commercial opportunities across the North region. The role will focus on winning new clients, developing existing accounts, and delivering sustainable revenue growth. You will work closely with delivery teams to design resourcing solutions, lead commercial negotiations, and be accountable for meeting sales targets while maintaining excellent client service.
Key responsibilities:
- Prospect for and win new business across target sectors within the North region through proactive outreach, networking and bid activity.
- Manage and develop a pipeline of opportunities, progressing leads through the sales cycle to contract signature.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders, understanding their workforce needs and proposing tailored solutions.
- Prepare commercial proposals, quotations and presentations; lead commercial negotiations and contract discussions.
- Work collaboratively with Account Managers, Recruiters and operations teams to ensure successful mobilisation and ongoing service delivery.
- Achieve and exceed regional sales targets and KPIs, reporting progress to senior management.
- Monitor market and competitor activity, feeding insights into service development and pricing strategies.
- Represent the company at industry events and client meetings as required, promoting the company’s brand and values.

About you:
- Proven track record in business development or sales within recruitment, workforce solutions, staffing or related B2B services.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience preparing proposals, managing negotiations and closing deals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport at senior client levels.
- Highly organised and target-driven, able to manage a pipeline and prioritise activity to deliver results.
- Confident working independently across a dispersed geography and comfortable with regular travel to client sites.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM systems; quick to learn internal ATS and sales tools.
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle for client visits.
