Business Development Manager – South West England
Territory: South West England
Role: Field-based
Package: £45,000-£55,000, performance-related bonus, company car and benefits
Are you a new-business hunter who enjoys getting out into the market, opening doors and winning new customers?
An established international manufacturer is looking for a Business Development Manager to grow its customer base across the South West of England.
This is a field-based sales role with a strong focus on new business development. You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities, meeting prospective customers and managing the complete sales process—from the first conversation through to securing the account.
The role
- Identify and target prospective customers across the South West
- Develop your own pipeline of new-business opportunities
- Arrange and attend face-to-face customer meetings
- Understand customers’ products, operations and commercial requirements
- Develop tailored solutions in partnership with internal technical and operational teams
- Prepare proposals, negotiate commercial terms and close new business
- Build long-term relationships with decision-makers
- Maintain accurate pipeline and activity information
- Represent the business at industry events and networking opportunities

What we’re looking for
Packaging or manufacturing experience would be advantageous, but we are also interested in proven B2B salespeople from other sectors.
More importantly, you’ll need to demonstrate that you can prospect, open doors and convert new opportunities into profitable, long-term customer relationships.
You should be:
- An experienced B2B field salesperson
- A genuine new-business hunter with a strong prospecting mentality
- Comfortable approaching and visiting prospective customers
- Experienced in managing a complete sales cycle
- Commercially aware and confident negotiating with decision-makers
- Resilient, self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Able to manage a large geographical territory effectively
- Based within the South West of England
- Willing to travel regularly and hold a full UK driving licence
