Role Description
The Business Development Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients and partners, and expanding Sortera UK’s presence within the construction and environmental services sectors.

- Prospecting and qualifying leads
- Preparing and delivering sales presentations and proposals
- Negotiating commercial terms
- Collaborating with operations and sustainability teams to align solutions with customer needs
The Business Development Manager will monitor market trends, maintain accurate sales pipelines and reports, and contribute to strategic planning to support revenue growth and long-term customer partnerships.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably within construction, waste management, or environmental services.
- Strong skills in relationship building, stakeholder management, and negotiation, with the ability to influence decision-makers and secure long-term contracts.
- Ability to analyze market trends, customer data, and financial information to identify opportunities and develop effective commercial strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare compelling proposals and deliver clear, persuasive pitches.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, managing time effectively across on-site client visits, internal meetings, and remote work.
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability and circular economy principles, and willingness to champion Sortera’s environmental mission.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities, with attention to detail and proficiency in CRM systems and standard office software.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, environmental management, or a related field is beneficial.
