The Opportunity
SMUK is an established specialist in commercial vehicle safety systems and fleet technology, working with fleet operators across the UK to deliver practical, engineered solutions that improve vehicle safety, compliance and operational performance.
We don't simply sell individual products. We work with our customers to understand the challenges they face and bring together the right combination of technology, products, installation and support to deliver a Total Fleet Solution.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to take ownership of our North West territory and further develop SMUK's presence within the commercial fleet sector.
This is a proactive business development role for someone who enjoys creating opportunities, opening new doors and building strong commercial relationships.
You'll be responsible for developing new business with commercial fleet operators across your region, taking opportunities from initial conversation through to solution development, quotation, negotiation and order, while building relationships that create long-term value for both the customer and SMUK.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
