About The Company
An established UK design, engineering, and manufacturing specialist is investing in the next stage of its commercial growth.
Operating within a highly specialised area of the electronics market, the business develops custom electronic enclosures and complete engineered system solutions, supporting customers from initial concept and design through engineering and into production.
Rather than selling an off-the-shelf product, the team works around each customer's application and requirements to develop bespoke, manufacturable solutions.
With significant engineering capability under one roof and an established customer history, the business is now strengthening its commercial function to accelerate growth across its Enclosures and Electronic Systems activities.
Role Overview
You'll be joining a newly structured Commercial Team and taking ownership of developing new customers while also unlocking opportunities within a substantial base of previously engaged, dormant accounts.
We need someone who can identify what a genuine potential customer looks like, open the door, get in front of Engineering and commercial decision-makers, uncover their pain points, and develop an opportunity from the ground up.
You'll own the initial customer engagement and work closely with internal Engineering and Manufacturing teams to determine what's technically achievable, establish production requirements and lead times, and build a commercially compelling proposal.
This is consultative, technical solution selling – understanding the problem first and selling the engineering capability second.
Key Responsibilities
- Hunt for New Business: Proactively identify, target, and engage organisations with requirements for custom electronic enclosures and integrated electronic systems.
- Get in Front of Customers: Build relationships beyond email and telephone prospecting, with an expectation that you'll be out in the market developing opportunities face-to-face.
- Reactivate Dormant Accounts: Re-engage historical customers, understand what's changed within their business, and uncover new projects and requirements.
- Qualify Technical Opportunities: Listen to customer challenges, capture requirements, and establish whether there is a strong technical and commercial fit.
- Build the Value Proposition: Translate customer pain points into compelling design, engineering, and manufacturing solutions.
- Work with Engineering: Collaborate with Production Engineering and other in-house specialists to validate manufacturability, production requirements, lead times, and pricing.
- Develop Proposals & Quotations: Coordinate the internal process required to turn customer requirements into commercially competitive proposals.
- Own the Pipeline: Develop a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities and maintain accurate CRM activity, order forecasts, and sales forecasts.
- Develop Long-Term Relationships: Convert initial projects into sustainable customer partnerships and identify opportunities for wider engagement across the solution portfolio.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Requirements
We're looking for someone with the mindset of a hunter and the approach of a solution salesperson.
You should bring:
- A minimum of 5 years' external new-business sales experience, ideally within technical manufacturing, electronics, or a related engineering environment.
- A demonstrable track record of opening doors and winning new customers, rather than purely managing an inherited account base.
- Strong consultative and solution-selling skills.
- The ability to listen, uncover customer pain points, and build a compelling value proposition around them.
- Confidence engaging customers around custom-designed or engineered products and solutions.
- The commercial credibility to manage requirements, proposals, quotations, and opportunity development.
- The ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, and operational stakeholders.
- Strong organisational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience maintaining an accurate CRM, pipeline, and sales forecast.
- A proactive and self-reliant approach with the motivation to get out into the market and create opportunities.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience within electronic enclosures, plastics, electronic systems, custom electronics, technical manufacturing, or another engineering-led environment would be particularly relevant.
You don't necessarily need to come from a traditional Contract Electronics Manufacturing background. What's more important is understanding how to sell a bespoke technical solution where Engineering and Manufacturing form part of the sales process.
An established network of relevant customers or prospects would be highly advantageous.
What’s On Offer

- An established customer history offering significant scope for dormant-account reactivation alongside greenfield new business.
- A highly specialised proposition spanning design, engineering, and manufacturing.
- The opportunity to sell complex, bespoke solutions rather than commoditised products.
- Direct access to the Engineering and Manufacturing expertise required to develop customer-specific solutions.
- A working model that will evolve as you learn the business, combining time with the internal team and increasing customer-facing activity in the field.
- The opportunity to play an important role in the next stage of the company's commercial development.
- Competitive salary plus performance-based bonus.
- Ongoing training and development.
