Role: Business Development Manager – Time-Critical Logistics

Location: Coventry

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager to join an established and growing logistics and transport operation based in Coventry.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional with a background in dedicated vehicle transport, time-critical logistics, freight forwarding or specialist transport solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strong customer relationships and growing revenue across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the transport and logistics sector.
  • Generate new leads through prospecting, networking, referrals and existing industry contacts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customers' transport and logistics requirements.
  • Promote dedicated vehicle, time-critical and specialist transport solutions.
  • Prepare and present quotations and commercial proposals.
  • Negotiate rates and commercial terms to secure new business.
  • Manage the sales pipeline and consistently work towards agreed revenue targets.
  • Work closely with operations to ensure customer requirements are delivered effectively.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers to identify opportunities for additional business.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify potential opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities and sales performance.

  • Proven sales or business development experience within transport/logistics.
  • Strong understanding of the UK transport and logistics market.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially minded with a genuine desire to win new business.
  • Confident in generating leads and developing your own customer portfolio.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated and target driven.
  • Able to work independently while working closely with operational teams.
  • Full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
