Business Development Manager, Industrial & Commercial Utilities
UK-wide | Home-based with client site travel | Uncapped commission (OTE £100k+) | Car allowance
About our client
I'm recruiting for a UK utilities and energy services business that helps organisations cut energy costs, carbon and complexity. Following continued growth, they're expanding their commercial team and need an experienced hunter to win new Industrial & Commercial (I&C) clients.
The opportunity
A new business role selling my client's Utility Management services: procurement, bill validation, management, data analysis and metering operations. You'll own the full sales cycle, from prospecting through to close and handover, selling to senior decision-makers and securing substantial, long-term contracts, with support from a dedicated lead generation and marketing team and technical experts.
Reporting to the Head of New Business, you'll work remotely with flexibility on location, but you'll be comfortable travelling to client sites and industry events as needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
