Development Manager, End User (Smart Buildings)

Most building technology suppliers wait for a consultant to specify them. My client wants to be the system building owners ask for by name. This new role makes that happen.
My client is a well-established European manufacturer of intelligent lighting control systems, used in commercial towers, data centres, hospitals, universities, and major regeneration schemes. Their UK business is growing strongly, and they are now investing in direct, senior relationships with the organisations that own and occupy those buildings.

The Role
- Build and own a portfolio of strategic end-user accounts across the UK & Ireland: corporate occupiers, landlords and asset managers, NHS and university estates, local authorities, and data centre operators
- Open senior relationships with estates and facilities directors, heads of sustainability, and corporate real estate teams
- Write and run formal account plans, reviewed with sales leadership
- Create demand that flows through consultants and contractors already carrying a client preference for your solution
- Build commercial cases around energy savings, carbon reduction, payback, and building data
- Develop recurring revenue through retrofit, service, and framework agreements
- Work hand in hand with the specification sales team

What You'll Bring
- Consultative B2B new business experience selling to corporate or public sector estates at senior level
- A track record of opening new accounts, not only managing inherited ones
- Real account planning capability, with results to show for it
- An understanding of how the UK construction specification chain works, and patience for long sales cycles
- Commercial fluency around energy, carbon, and payback
- Background in lighting controls, BMS, HVAC controls, energy management, smart buildings, or IoT is a strong advantage
- Familiarity with Part L, BREEAM, NABERS UK, or net zero reporting is a plus
