About ACCOTAX
ACCOTAX is a London-based firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Consultants supporting tech companies, startups, contractors, limited companies, content creators, and growing SMEs across the UK. We provide statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, payroll, self-assessment, R&D tax relief, and strategic advisory services.
We combine modern cloud accounting, automation, and AI-driven workflows to deliver a faster, more proactive service than traditional practices. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager with a background in the accountancy sector.
The Role
You will own new client acquisition from first contact through to signed engagement. This is an in-person, target-driven role where you will work closely alongside our Commercial Manager and Practice Manager to win new business, price engagements correctly, and ensure smooth client onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Outbound calling: Actively call potential clients (startups, SMEs, contractors, and owner-managed businesses) to book discovery calls and win new business.
- Networking & events: Represent ACCOTAX at networking events, business breakfasts, startup meetups, and industry events, converting relationships into revenue.
- Multi-channel outreach: Run outreach via phone, email, and LinkedIn to build and manage a strong pipeline.
- Inbound lead conversion: Manage a portion of inbound enquiries, qualify quickly, run discovery calls, and convert them into paying clients.
- Proposals & pricing: Scope client requirements and prepare fee proposals and engagement letters with the Commercial Manager.
- Client onboarding: Work with the Practice Manager to hand new clients over to the accounts team seamlessly.
- Referral partnerships: Develop introducer relationships with banks, solicitors, IFAs, and incubators.
- CRM & reporting: Keep the CRM up to date and report weekly on activity, pipeline, and revenue generated.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
