I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role

This position is a key role within our sales structure which focuses on a geographical territory within which we have strong established Foodservice end user business but believe that there is significant growth potential. You will inherit an account base initially, and the expectation will be to demonstrate strong account retention and gain additional share of wallet through effective food costing and menu planning at chef level. In addition to this, you will be targeted with winning new accounts within the area to add to the areas client base. Pubs, restaurants, and hotels will be key focus areas in this region. The role is varied, and we often work closely with high-end establishments to source and locate specific seafood products, which can be an exciting and interesting aspect to the role. This is an excellent opportunity for a Foodie individual who would love to work autonomously with some great foodservice products and customers.
