Business Development Manager
Location: UK-wide – Home & Field Based
Salary: £45,000–£50,000 + Uncapped Commission + Company Car
A newly created Business Development Manager opportunity with a rapidly growing and ambitious environmental and water testing business.
With significant investment in a state-of-the-art laboratory and ambitious growth plans, this is a great opportunity for an experienced BDM from the water sector to make a real impact.
You’ll focus on winning new business across the UK, building your own portfolio of clients and benefiting from the accounts you bring in.
The role is 80% new business and 20% account management, targeting Facilities Management companies, water consultants, and organisations managing water systems and Legionella risk.

Responsibilities of a Business Development Manager:
- Developing new business opportunities across the UK
- Generating and managing your own pipeline of prospective clients
- Building strong relationships with FM companies and water consultants
- Winning new accounts and growing revenue
- Managing and developing the accounts you bring into the business
- Identifying opportunities to increase customer spend
- Conducting meetings, presentations, and commercial discussions with prospective clients
- Working towards agreed sales targets and KPIs
- Managing your own diary and territory independently
- Working closely with the internal Client Support Team to ensure excellent customer service
- Building long-term commercial relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact for your clients

Requirements of a Business Development Manager:
- At least 1 year’s experience working within the water sector
- Previous experience in a BDM, sales, or business development position
- A proven track record of winning new business
- Experience selling into Facilities Management, water consultancy, or related sectors
- Strong commercial awareness and a target-driven approach
- The confidence and ability to generate your own opportunities
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A professional, trustworthy, and honest approach
- Strong levels of integrity
