Role Overview
Are you a commercially driven Business Development or Bid Management professional with a strong network and deep understanding of the UK rail industry? Do you thrive on winning complex, high-value opportunities and bringing together diverse teams to deliver compelling bids?
We are currently looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in identifying, shaping and securing new rolling stock opportunities across the UK.
Main Duties
- Lead the end-to-end bid management process, from initial opportunity identification through to submission and contract award.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across the UK rolling stock and rail market.
- Develop compelling bid and win strategies, taking into account customer requirements, market conditions and competitor positioning.
- Create and manage detailed bid plans, programmes and governance, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, finance, manufacturing, commercial and social value to deliver high-quality proposals.
- Challenge and influence internal stakeholders to ensure bids are competitive, commercially robust and customer-focused.
- Develop and review cost models, pricing strategies and commercial proposals to support successful bids.
- Lead bid risk assessments, identifying key commercial and delivery risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present bid reviews, commercial recommendations and approval documentation to senior management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and key UK rail stakeholders.
- Monitor the UK rail market, including industry trends, upcoming procurements and competitor activity, to identify potential growth opportunities.
- Represent the business at industry conferences, customer meetings, networking events and other key rail forums.
- Maintain a strong understanding of UK rail regulations, procurement processes and compliance requirements.
- Work collaboratively with international teams to leverage global expertise, capability and best practice in UK opportunities.
