Role Description

The Business Development Manager role is a full-time, on the road. This role involves identifying and securing new business opportunities with restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, and event caterers, while strengthening relationships with existing customers across the South West.

  • Prospecting and cold outreach
  • Conducting client meetings and site visits
  • Preparing proposals and quotations
  • Negotiating pricing and terms in line with company guidelines

The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with operations and the Fresh Fish preparation team to ensure customer expectations are met, manage sales pipelines and forecasts, and provide regular performance reports.

The role also includes:

  • Attending industry events
  • Monitoring market trends
  • Contributing to sales campaigns and promotional activities to support revenue growth

Qualifications

  • Strong sales and business development skills, including prospecting, lead generation, and closing deals in B2B environments.
  • Account management and relationship-building experience, with the ability to maintain and grow long-term customer partnerships.
  • Commercial acumen and negotiation skills, with experience preparing quotations, managing margins, and meeting revenue targets.
  • Knowledge of the food service or hospitality sector; experience in seafood, fresh produce, or related industries is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including confident presentation abilities and clear written communication.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a territory, schedule client visits, and prioritize activities.
  • Comfortable working on-site and in the field, with a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the region.
  • Proficiency with basic office and CRM software to manage pipelines, reports, and customer data.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant experience in sales, business development, or account management; a background in food service or hospitality is highly beneficial.
