Business Development Manager
Location – Ideally within commutable distance of Warrington or Solihull but nationwide travel will be required
Purpose of the role:
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Infrastructure division. Ideally the successful candidate will be based in the North West or Midlands regions as there will be regular travel required (within England only).
As Business Development Manager, you will identify and develop opportunities that support our growth plans, building strong relationships with Local Authorities, Combined Authorities, Sub-national Transport Bodies and other public sector clients.
You will work closely with operational, work-winning and leadership teams to understand market opportunities, strengthen customer relationships and position Galliford Try as a trusted delivery partner.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and deliver business development plans across public sector highways markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Local Authorities, Combined Authorities, Transport Authorities and other public sector organisations.
- Develop customer account plans, identifying strategic priorities, investment programmes, funding and future opportunities.
- Monitor transport and infrastructure plans, procurement strategies, frameworks and funding to identify opportunities early.
- Manage and maintain an accurate business development pipeline, providing market intelligence and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Represent Galliford Try at industry events and stakeholder forums, promoting our capabilities, values and reputation.
- Support customer-facing materials, presentations, case studies and thought leadership that strengthen our market position.
- Promote effective stakeholder engagement, knowledge sharing and best practice across the business.
About you:
- Experience working with Local Authorities, Combined Authorities or public sector infrastructure clients.
- Strong understanding of public sector procurement, frameworks, governance and funding.
- Knowledge of local government decision-making and transport infrastructure investment.
- Established network across the highways and wider transport infrastructure sector.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders.
- Commercially aware and politically astute, with a strategic approach to identifying and developing growth opportunities.
