Position overview:

In this external, customer-facing role, you will be a passionate, enthusiastic, and energetic Business Development Manager responsible for developing and expanding our business with both new & existing customers.

You will find and enable opportunities through your understanding of customer needs and extensive product knowledge, that can support increased sales and customer expansion. Your goal is to drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients. You will have a proven track record in driving projects from concept through to production and will demonstrate a strong understanding of all activity in between.

This role reports to the UK Sales Director.

Teamwork

  • Support in house marketing & eBusiness, customer nurture & growth activity through input on customer needs and product demand in our ever-changing marketplace
  • Work closely with other members of the BD & marketing teams within Optimas to ensure best practice is identified, shared & effectively rolled out across borders
  • Build strategic relationships with all related functions to achieve goals
  • Present customer pipeline updates, regularly and as required at Sales Meetings
  • Work with internal departments to create proposals that will win new business while attaining profitability and EBITDA objectives

Business Development

  • Work with the Sales Director to form, grow and implement business development plans for UK.
  • Find and develop and win new market opportunities utilising your both your product knowledge and an understanding of the value we can offer our customer though our various logistics and engineering services.
  • Attendance of conferences, customer meetings, and industry events where required to understand market trends and customer needs.
  • Promote and sell Optimas’ total value proposition (products, engineering & supply chain) within the UK geography

Customer & Market Insight

  • Be aware of market changes and competitor activities and report accordingly
  • Suggest and support ideas for marketing / literature requirements
  • To maintain and up-date business development and quotations databases, ensuring all quotes are followed up to completion (namely HubSpot)

Skills and qualifications required:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Engineering understanding, industrial sector experience advantageous
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Willingness to travel with an expectation of three days spent in customer-facing activity per week.
  • Strong computer knowledge/skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and other related systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balance workload effectively, assess the need for business and customer priorities
  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university, or proven industry work experience
  • Strong work ethic – self-starter able to demonstrate strong proactive approach and self-initiative; persistent and tenacious; high level of commitment and dedication to meet aggressive deadlines with high-quality results
