Business Development Lead – Professional Services
£55,000–£75,000 base | £110,000–£150,000 OTE | 4-day working week
We’re looking for an experienced Business Development Lead to help drive growth across a fast-growing, nationally recognised professional services group.
The business has an established and expanding client base, alongside a broad range of services across accountancy, hiring, HR, payroll, legal and other specialist areas.
A key part of the role will be proactively engaging existing and prospective clients, presenting the wider range of services available across the group and identifying where there is an opportunity to add further value.
The Role
This is a highly proactive, client-facing business development role.
You’ll spend your time meeting business owners and senior decision-makers, understanding what is happening in their business, presenting the wider group proposition and identifying relevant opportunities across multiple service lines.
A significant part of the commercial opportunity already exists within the group’s established client base. Many clients currently use only part of the wider service offering, creating considerable scope to broaden those relationships.
You’ll also create new conversations with prospective clients and introduce them to the wider group.
You’ll:
- Proactively engage existing clients and prospective new clients
- Present the full range of services available across the group
- Lead strong commercial conversations with business owners and senior decision-makers
- Understand the key priorities, challenges and plans within each business
- Identify opportunities across multiple service lines
- Bring the relevant specialist team into the conversation once an opportunity is identified
- Work with Partners and Associate Partners to create access to existing client relationships
- Generate new commercial conversations outside the existing client base
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Track the opportunities you originate and the revenue generated from them
- Increase the breadth of services clients use across the group

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You won’t be expected to be the technical expert across every service line.
Your role is to create the conversation, understand the business, present what the wider group can offer and identify where there is an opportunity.
The relevant specialist can then take the technical conversation forward.
What We’re Looking For

You’ll be able to demonstrate previous success in creating opportunities, developing new business and generating revenue through high-quality commercial conversations.
You’ll bring:
- A proven track record of B2B sales performance, with clear evidence of revenue generated, targets achieved or commercial growth delivered
- Strong experience in consultative selling, where understanding the client and identifying the right solution is central to the sales process
- Experience selling professional services, complex solutions or multiple service lines
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Confidence engaging business owners and senior decision-makers
- The ability to quickly understand a business, ask the right questions and identify commercial opportunities
- Strong commercial judgement
- The ability to create momentum and move opportunities forward
- A disciplined approach to activity, pipeline management and follow-up
