Business Development Manager – Industrial Sales
Location: Bristol / South West (Field-Based)
Company: Thorite (Part of Flowtech plc)
Salary: Competitive base salary + bonus + company car / car allowance
Thorite, part of the Flowtech plc Group, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive sales growth across the Bristol and South West region.
This is a field-based sales role focused on new business development, key account management, and territory sales growth within the industrial and manufacturing sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding market share by promoting hydraulic systems, pneumatics, compressed air solutions, and fluid power products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a territory sales plan and key account strategy to achieve revenue and margin targets
- Drive new business development while managing and growing existing industrial customer accounts
- Identify and win opportunities within engineering, manufacturing, and industrial environments
- Build strong relationships with procurement, purchasing, engineering, and maintenance teams
- Prepare and deliver technical sales proposals, quotations, and presentations
- Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation through to order conversion
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline management, and reporting
- Collaborate with internal teams including technical services, engineering, and procurement
- Support larger projects and deliver value-based sales solutions

Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience in field sales, business development, or technical sales
- Strong track record of selling into industrial customers or manufacturing environments
- Experience managing a sales territory and delivering against revenue targets
- Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, and closing skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Desirable:
- Experience in fluid power, hydraulics, pneumatics, or compressed air systems
- Background in engineering or manufacturing
- Technical or engineering qualification
