We’ve grown quickly and continuously over those 40 years, and now we’re entering another period of rapid change as we set out to deliver our new growth strategy. The Business Development team are the driving force behind that growth, and as such we are developing and expanding the team to better acquire new customers and deliver ever better value to, and from, our existing customer base.
Role Description
The Business Development Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Newark-On-Trent, with flexibility for some work from home. In this position, you will identify growth opportunities from both existing customers and new customers. You will be feeding the sales pipeline with qualified opportunities, focused on Enterprise level opportunities.
You will work with stakeholders across the business to translate business priorities into targeted campaigns and activities that help the business deliver those priorities, enlisting the support of functions such as Marketing to help build high-quality and impactful content.
You will use customer and market insights to inform and design these campaigns, and deploy them across your team using a mix of outreach channels such as LinkedIn, phone calls and general networking at events. And you will be responsible for setting the targets for the team and specific campaigns, and the reporting on all activities the team deliver.
Core Responsibilities
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
- Monitor industry trends to identify opportunities that align our solutions and services to customer and market needs.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including Marketing, Sales teams (Enterprise, Key Accounts and Internal Sales), Finance and our Solutions and Services teams.
- Collaborate with these teams to align campaigns with growth priorities.
- Create and deliver the Business Development campaign roadmap.
- Create and set the teams KPIs and targets.
- Provide regular reporting on the Business Development pipeline and team performance.
- Use data to refine approaches and improve overall business performance.
- Work with Marketing to ensure campaigns are supported with appropriate collateral to engage and inform prospects.
- Develop relationships with key product partners and identify areas of collaboration where we can work together towards shared growth ambitions.
- Deliver a seamless handover of opportunities from Business Development to the relevant Sales individual.
- Monitor the progress of the sales accepted opportunities, working with sales individuals to ensure the opportunities continue to progress towards a successful outcome.
- Contribute to the continued efficiency improvement of the Sales, Marketing and wider Operations functions.
- Ensure your own and the team’s product and solution knowledge is constantly maintained.
- Stay at the forefront of Business Development best practice, learning from partners and peers in other organisations.
- Mentorship of team members, including holding 1:1’s, appraisals and the creation of individual PDPs.

Essential Knowledge & Experience
- Advanced knowledge of CRM functionality and how to use that to feed and develop the sales pipeline (e.g. Hubspot, Salesforce or similar).
- Experience designing and building playbooks and sequences to support outreach activities.
- Proven track record of nurturing customer relationships at an Enterprise level to drive growth.
- Proven track record of identifying new sales opportunities.
- Experience managing a team’s lead pipeline and driving positive outcomes.
- Detailed reporting and interpretation for day-to-day operations.
- Forecasting pipeline growth and performance against KPIs.
- Line management, training, and mentorship.
- Stakeholder management, in particular working directly with sales leaders.
- Proven track record of driving teams to achieve or surpass targets.
- Understanding and ability to apply inbound and outbound sales activities.
- Experience of selling from a large product and service catalogue.
- Experience of creating, communicating, and interpreting sales reports and data.
- Understand how to apply MI to sales strategy.
- Experience of working alongside lead generating marketing teams.
- Appreciation of accuracy in recording and reporting of sales activity.
- Experience of tactical methodologies to address sales shortfalls.

Desired Knowledge & Experience
- Experience in using prospecting and lead generation tools (e.g. LinkedIn Sales Navigator).
- Experience in using data enrichment and intelligence tools (e.g. ZoomInfo).
- Knowledge of the enterprise mobility market or similar technology market.
- Experience of dealing with vendors, distributors and partners.

Additional Information
This role is hybrid with a requirement for 4 days in the office each week.
Monday - Friday 40 hours per week.
