The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced, commercially driven Business Development Manager to join Uplands OneTelco and play a key role in the next stage of our growth.

This is a genuine new-business role for somebody who enjoys creating opportunities, opening doors and winning new customers.

You’ll take ownership of your own pipeline and manage opportunities from initial prospecting and discovery through to commercial proposal, negotiation and signed agreement.

Because we offer far more than a single telecoms product, you’ll have the opportunity to have broader conversations with customers and build valuable, multi-product relationships.

What You’ll Be Selling

You’ll represent our full telecommunications and technology portfolio, including:

  • Business mobile solutions across all networks
  • Unified Communications and cloud telephony
  • Connectivity and internet services
  • Microsoft and collaboration solutions
  • IT, cyber and technology services
  • Telecoms hardware and associated business technology solutions

The role is about understanding what a business actually needs and bringing together the right combination of commercial and technical solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll own the complete new-business sales cycle, including:

  • Identifying and targeting prospective customers
  • Generating your own opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, LinkedIn, telephone and other appropriate channels
  • Building and managing a healthy, qualified sales pipeline
  • Securing and leading new-business meetings
  • Running effective discovery conversations to understand customer requirements, challenges and commercial priorities
  • Engaging confidently with business owners and senior decision-makers
  • Identifying opportunities across our wider portfolio
  • Working with our commercial, technical and supplier teams to develop the right solutions
  • Building and presenting compelling commercial proposals
  • Managing negotiations and overcoming objections
  • Closing opportunities and securing signed customer agreements
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline, activity and forecasting information within Salesforce
  • Managing opportunities through to implementation handover, ensuring a professional transition from sales into delivery
  • Developing strong relationships that lead to referrals, additional services and longer-term growth

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
