We’re hiring: Business Development Manager

At Alleyoop, we’re looking for a commercially minded salesperson who can spot opportunities. Not someone who just wants to work through a list, make calls and push a fixed product. We’re looking for someone who can speak to a business, understand how they currently attract customers, identify where the gaps are and recognise where Alleyoop can help.

The role

Your main responsibility will be bringing new clients into Alleyoop. You’ll be speaking with business owners, directors and marketing teams to understand how they currently approach growth, where they’re struggling and what opportunities they may be missing. Alleyoop works as an extension of a company’s marketing team. That means the right solution will look different for every client. For one business, the opportunity might be Google Ads. For another, it could be Meta, creative, CRM, content, TV, radio, outdoor or a combination of several different channels. Your job is to understand the business well enough to identify the opportunity.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and managing a pipeline of prospective clients
  • Speaking with business owners, directors and senior marketing teams
  • Running discovery and initial sales conversations
  • Understanding how prospective clients currently generate leads and sales
  • Identifying gaps in their marketing activity
  • Spotting opportunities for growth
  • Working with our internal strategy team to develop the right approach
  • Presenting recommendations and proposals to prospective clients
  • Following up opportunities and progressing them through the sales process
  • Building long-term relationships with prospects
  • Networking and representing Alleyoop at events
  • Generating new opportunities through outbound activity, referrals and your own network
  • Keeping the CRM and pipeline organised and up to date
  • Working closely with the wider team to make sure new clients are the right fit for Alleyoop

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who understands that good sales starts with asking the right questions. You should be naturally curious about businesses. You should want to understand how they make money, where their customers come from, what they’ve tried before, what’s working and what isn’t. We’re interested in someone who:

  • Has experience in sales, business development or account growth
  • Is confident speaking with business owners and senior decision-makers
  • Has strong commercial instincts
  • Can quickly understand different businesses and industries
  • Is comfortable asking challenging questions
  • Can identify problems and opportunities rather than simply sell a predefined service
  • Is confident presenting ideas and recommendations
  • Builds trust quickly
  • Is organised and disciplined with follow-up
  • Is comfortable managing a sales pipeline
  • Is motivated by targets and growth
  • Can work independently while collaborating with the wider team
  • Has an interest in marketing, advertising and business growth
  • Wants to become genuinely knowledgeable about the services they are selling

Agency or marketing experience would be useful, but it isn’t essential. We’re more interested in someone with strong sales ability, good commercial judgement and the curiosity to understand how businesses grow.

How we sell

We don’t believe in forcing every prospect into the same package. Our job is to understand the opportunity first. We want our sales conversations to feel more like a commercial and marketing discussion than a traditional sales pitch. We’re looking for someone who can sit with a business owner and think:

  • Where is the opportunity here?
  • What are they missing?
  • What could Alleyoop do that would genuinely help this business grow?

Sometimes the answer might be one service. Sometimes it might be a much wider marketing strategy. And sometimes the right answer might be that we’re not the right fit. We want someone who understands that building trust and giving good advice ultimately creates better clients.
