About the Opportunity
Hall & Kay, a recognised leader in the delivery of sophisticated fire protection and security solutions, is experiencing strategic expansion across the Midlands region. We are seeking two talented and commercially astute Business Development Managers to join our growing Birmingham team one specialising in Fire & Security Detection space.
In this pivotal role, you will drive sustainable growth by identifying opportunities, cultivating new business relationships, and expanding our footprint across diverse sectors throughout the Midlands region. Office Base: Your primary base will be our Birmingham office; however, we embrace flexible working arrangements which will include both field, office and home working as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Revenue Growth: Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities with both prospective and existing clients to consistently meet and exceed agreed sales targets
- Lead Management: Respond promptly to allocated sales leads, maintaining robust tracking and follow-up protocols to maximise conversion rates
- Sales Pipeline Management: Develop and maintain accurate forecasts, prospect databases, quotation pipelines, and comprehensive sales reporting
- Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with key customers, contractors, specifiers, and industry stakeholders
- Contract Preparation: Prepare compelling, professional proposals and contract documentation tailored to client requirements
- Performance Accountability: Achieve monthly and quarterly sales and activity objectives, managing your pipeline strategically to ensure consistent target delivery
- Territory Development: Proactively target regional and multi-site prospects within your defined geographical area
- Continuous Development: Participate in regular sales meetings, training programmes and professional development activities as required
- Compliance: Maintain adherence to all company processes, quality standards, health and safety directives, and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrable success in selling Security systems or Fire Detection/Protection solutions within a B2B environment
- Technical Acumen: Strong technical and solution-based sales background with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical, customer-focused proposals
- Consultative Approach: In-depth knowledge and understanding of security or fire detection/protection systems, enabling you to adopt a consultative, needs-based sales methodology
- IT Proficiency: Competent user of Microsoft Office suite and CRM platforms
- Full UK Driving Licence: Essential for regional travel
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety requirements including PPE, Accident Reporting, and Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS)
- Personal Attributes:

- Articulate, professional communicator with exceptional listening skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Self-motivated and resilient, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Customer-centric mindset with a results-driven approach
- Demonstrable enthusiasm, tenacity, and commercial awareness
- Natural aptitude for business development, lead generation and relationship building
