Business Development Manager

Elland - National Travel

Salary/Package - £36,000 - OTE £45,000
Car Allowance

Are you an experienced Business Development professional who enjoys building long-term client relationships while identifying opportunities to grow revenue?

This is a key commercial role, with responsibility for managing and developing existing client relationships while identifying opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, renewals, and new business growth.

The Role

You will become a key point of contact for a portfolio of clients, developing trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and ensuring they receive a consistently high level of service.

You will be responsible for understanding client needs, identifying opportunities to increase account value, and working closely with internal operational teams to ensure successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Managing and nurturing relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for assigned strategic accounts.
  • Understanding client needs, objectives, and challenges to provide tailored solutions.
  • Maintaining regular communication and conducting client reviews to ensure satisfaction.
  • Developing and managing your own client appointment plan, with a target of 30 client appointments per month.
  • Attending new business meetings generated through tele-appointers and self-generated leads.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase revenue through upselling and cross-selling.
  • Working collaboratively with internal service and operational teams to maximize client spend.
  • Negotiating and closing renewals, contract extensions, and new business opportunities.
  • Delivering presentations to clients on the organisation's services.
  • Supporting the preparation of accurate and commercially competitive proposals.
  • Ensuring all contract and customer documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Working closely with operations to ensure the successful implementation and delivery of services.
  • Conducting regular client performance reviews and proactively addressing any challenges or opportunities.
  • Keeping clients informed about new products, services, and developments.
  • Monitoring account performance and providing regular updates on opportunities, challenges, and activity.
  • Representing the organisation at external networking, charitable, and industry events.

  • Proven experience in account management, strategic account management, business development, or a similar commercial role.
  • A strong track record of developing and retaining client relationships.
  • Experience identifying and converting upselling, cross-selling, and new business opportunities.
  • Confidence dealing with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A proactive approach to managing your own diary, appointments, and sales activity.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with operational and service teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A genuine focus on delivering an excellent client experience.

You will need to be comfortable with national travel as part of the role and confident representing the business externally. The role requires some flexibility depending on business requirements.
