Harkwell is a family-run label and flexible packaging company based in Poole, Dorset, serving customers for over 18 years. Using HP Indigo presses and ABG finishing lines, the company delivers high-quality, precise, and consistent label and pouch solutions that meet demanding customer expectations. Holding AA grade BRC accreditation, a Zero to Landfill Declaration, and memberships with BPIF and Sedex. The business is built on a customer-first philosophy, reflected in long-standing relationships and careful attention to jobs of every size.

Role Description

The Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site/hybrid role based in Poole, focused on growing Harkwell’s label and flexible packaging business. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, and developing strategic plans to expand market presence. The Business Development Manager will conduct market research, prepare and deliver sales presentations, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met. Daily responsibilities also include monitoring sales performance, maintaining accurate records, and representing Harkwell at industry events and customer meetings.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in business development, account management, and client relationship building.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and presentation abilities, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Understanding of packaging, print, or manufacturing environments, ideally with knowledge of labels and pouches.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, including market research and pipeline planning.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic office software, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work on-site, manage time effectively, and collaborate with production and operations teams.
  • Relevant experience in B2B sales or business development; a background in packaging or print is advantageous.
  • A person that wants to get out there, see potential customers and to grow the business with us.
