Business Development Manager

Location: Llanrwst, North Wales
Position Type: Full Time
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE

Our client is a well-established, family-run group based in Llanrwst, North Wales, with over 50 years of experience. The Group operates across two core businesses: Bus & Coach operations and Vehicle Sales, including a new vehicle dealership franchise launching in the coming months.

The Role

Reporting to the Directors, you'll take ownership of commercial growth and day-to-day performance across both businesses in the Group, leading four direct reports and around sixty indirect reports.

This is a broad role that combines business development with operational leadership and requires someone who can confidently manage client negotiations, margin reviews, and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying, pursuing, and winning new commercial opportunities and contracts across both the Bus & Coach and Vehicle Sales businesses.
  • Working with the Finance Manager to build the annual financial forecast and a 3-5 year business plan for the Group.
  • Reviewing major service contracts to protect margins against fuel, wage, and cost increases.
  • Monitoring P&L monthly and producing clear, KPI-led reports for the Directors.
  • Renegotiating support contracts to secure the best terms in the market.
  • Leading, motivating, and developing a management and supervisory team.
  • Communicating company strategy and values clearly and consistently.
  • Setting clear objectives for direct reports, monitoring delivery, and holding managers accountable for performance.
  • Balancing competing operational demands across engineering, compliance, vehicle sales, customer service, and driver allocation.
  • Ensuring effective coordination between Fleet, Sales, Projects, Aftersales, and Engineering.
  • Building strong working relationships across the business, with customers, and with external partners.
  • Chairing meetings, delivering appraisals, and mentoring managers through change.
  • Leading compliance across Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, DVSA/Traffic Commissioner rules, and bus service standards.
  • Providing management oversight of engineering performance and compliance across fleet, sales, and customer vehicles.
  • Working with the engineering team to ensure appropriate standards, controls, and reporting are maintained.
  • Championing a strong customer service culture and resolving escalating issues quickly and well.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
