About RheEnergise

RheEnergise has built a new form of energy storage. High-Density Hydro uses a mineral fluid around two and a half times denser than water, so a hill does the work that conventional pumped hydro needs a mountain to do. Long duration storage becomes possible on terrain nobody could use before, which opens up over one hundred thousand sites in Europe.

Our demonstrator in Devon has been generating since December 2025. We aren’t selling a simulation; we can put a customer in front of a machine that runs.

We are a start-up, with backing from the UK government and European Innovation Council. Around 35 people across the UK and a technology centre in Montreal, heading into a Series A. We licence our technology rather than build projects ourselves, so our customers own the assets and we supply the equipment, the fluid, the controls and the engineering behind them. Get one customer right and it leads to a series of projects, not a single one.

Purpose of the role

To own the commercial cycle in Europe from end to end: finding the opportunity, qualifying it, shaping it into a real project, negotiating the agreement and signing it.

Your customers are the organisations that need large amounts of energy storage and have the capital to build it: developers, IPPs, utilities, asset owners, industrial energy users, data centre developers, infrastructure investors and channel partners. You take them through the full commercial sequence, from feasibility and engineering studies to development agreements to technology supply and licence contracts.

You will also shape where we go. What you learn in the market feeds straight into the decisions we take on country priority, customer selection, pricing and how we position against batteries and other storage technologies. You own the deals. You influence the strategy.

Key accountabilities

  • Origination: Building a European pipeline, working the relationships we have and creating the ones we do not. Opening doors up to decision maker level, finding channel and development partners, and representing us at industry events and with regulators, system operators and funders.
  • Qualification: Establishing which opportunities have a real site, a route to grid and money behind them, and saying so when they do not. Turning interest into defined projects with our engineering and analyst teams.
  • Deal making: Writing, pricing and negotiating agreements to signature across studies, development and supply. Presenting the case to customer teams, their advisers and their investment committees, and working out what their lenders, insurers and technical advisers need from us on the way to final investment decision.
  • Pipeline integrity: Keeping the pipeline accurate and current, so the business and our investors can rely on what it says.
  • Market direction: Recommending to the Commercial Director which European markets deserve our attention and in what order, with evidence behind it. Feeding customer insight into our product, pricing and positioning, including why we lose.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Core skills and competencies

These are what we will interview against. Nobody arrives strong in all of them.

  • Origination: Starts relationships from nothing, with people who had no reason to take the call and can show where they led.
  • Commercial judgement: Tells interest from intent early, and says so, rather than letting a dead deal sit in the pipeline.
  • Technical fluency: Not an engineer, but holds their own on power, duration, grid connection and cost, and knows when to bring an engineer in.
  • Negotiation: Has taken commercial agreements to signature or run the substantive parts of that process alongside someone more senior.
  • Written persuasion: Drafts their own proposals. Much of what convinces a customer will be something they wrote.
  • Presenting: Delivers a technical and commercial case in front of customer teams, advisers and investment committees.
  • Strategic input: Forms an evidenced view on where we should compete, argues it with the Commercial Director and the leadership team, and commits to the decision that gets made.
  • Persistence: Keeps multi-year deals moving when nothing appears to be happening, without a bid team or marketing engine behind them.

Experience and background

A strong advantage

  • You have sold to our customers or worked inside one. Time in a developer, IPP, utility, industrial energy team or data centre business, or a record of selling into them.
  • A live European network you are willing to use from week one.
  • Direct sector experience. Energy storage, renewables development, power markets, grid connections, or taking projects towards FID.

Also useful

  • Selling technology, equipment or engineering services rather than assets.
  • Enough financial literacy to read a project model and understand what drives the return.
  • Familiarity with European storage subsidy and auction schemes, or with EU grant funding.
  • A second European language. Italian, Spanish, Polish, French and German are the most useful to us.

Required

  • Enough commercial experience to have run your own deals rather than support someone else's, in energy, infrastructure or another technical sector.
  • The right to work in the UK and to travel freely across Europe.

How we work

Five values shape how we make decisions, and how this role will be judged.

  • Mission first: A deal that does not move us closer to displacing fossil fuels is not worth signing.
  • Integrity: You will be asked what our technology cannot do as often as what it can. We answer honestly, even when it costs the deal.
  • Stepping up and leading: Nobody will hand you a list of customers to call. Form a view on who is worth pursuing, make the case, and lead it.
  • Diversity of thinking: Bring us views that contradict what we believe internally and take engineering and analyst challenge to your own with the same openness.
  • Challenge accepted: You are selling something not yet built at scale. That is the job.

Pay and package

The variable element is the point of this role, not a garnish on it.

  • £50,000 - £65,000 base, depending on experience.
  • Potential for an annual bonus, paid as a percentage of your salary, based on the agreements you close during the year. It pays on deals signed, not on activity or forecast.
  • Share options from our employee share pool.
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, statutory pension, and hybrid working from Camden Town.
  • Real influence over a commercial function still being built, and room to grow as the European business does.
