Role: Business Development Manager

Full-time: 35 hours Location: Nationwide

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in business development, commercial strategy, proposition development or a related commercial environment.
  • Has experience identifying and assessing new commercial opportunities through market insight, customer needs and competitor activity.
  • Has strong commercial and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn ideas and insight into viable propositions.
  • Has experience developing business cases, operating models and/or P&Ls, with an understanding of commercial viability and financial impact.
  • Is confident working with senior stakeholders and building effective relationships across different areas of an organisation.
  • Can work collaboratively with teams such as Strategy, Commercial, Sales and Operations to develop and deliver new opportunities.
  • Is comfortable working across both strategic and operational areas, taking an opportunity from initial concept through to a proposition that is ready to take to market.
  • Is proactive, analytical and able to identify opportunities for organic growth, diversification, new routes to market and potential inorganic growth.
  • Has strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present recommendations and gain stakeholder support.
  • Is commercially curious, creative and able to challenge existing thinking to identify new opportunities for growth.

About the role

In this role, you will:

  • Scope, design and develop the operating model for new services and propositions that can be effectively executed by the appropriate Directorate within St John Ambulance.
  • Work across the Strategy and Commercial teams to develop insight and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Gather and analyse market data, customer insight and competitor activity to identify opportunities to increase market share and drive revenue growth.
  • Take strategic opportunities from initial concept through to the development of a proposition ready to take to market.
  • Develop the operating model and P&L for new services and propositions, working with relevant stakeholders across St John Ambulance.
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations and other internal stakeholders to ensure new propositions are commercially viable and operationally deliverable.
  • Identify opportunities for organic growth and diversification into new services and markets.
  • Explore and develop new routes to market that can support the organisation’s commercial objectives.
  • Support the identification and development of potential inorganic growth opportunities.
  • Develop compelling business cases and recommendations to support commercial decision-making.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and ensure opportunities are aligned with St John Ambulance’s wider strategic objectives.
  • Support the development of new propositions that deliver sustainable revenue growth and contribute to the organisation’s long-term commercial ambitions.
