Position Overview

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and commercially driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to support our growth across marine, defence, and industrial sectors. This is a hybrid role combining new business development with ongoing account support, working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager.

You will play a key role in building the sales pipeline, developing customer relationships, and supporting commercial activities across the full sales cycle for our advanced energy storage technologies.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable taking ownership, working across multiple industries, and operating in a fast-moving, international environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities across marine, defence, and industrial markets
  • Conduct outreach to prospective customers via email, phone, events, and industry networks
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads
  • Support the sales cycle from initial engagement through to proposal and deal progression
  • Assist in managing existing customer relationships, including follow-ups, updates, and ongoing engagement
  • Attend international trade shows, client meetings, and industry events
  • Develop a strong understanding of our energy storage systems and their applications
  • Track activity, opportunities, and customer interactions using CRM tools
  • Support preparation of proposals, presentations, and commercial materials
  • Gather market intelligence and customer feedback to inform strategy

About You

  • Experience in a sales, BDM, business development, or account support role (B2B preferred)
  • Comfortable working in a small team with broad responsibilities and high visibility
  • Interest or exposure to marine, defence, industrial, or adjacent sectors
  • Basic understanding of energy storage, electrification, or power systems is a plus (not essential)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis
  • Ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable (but Not Essential)

  • Experience supporting account management or handling customer relationships
  • Knowledge of energy storage, electrification, or hybrid power systems
  • Experience working with OEMs, system integrators, or government/defence clients
  • Familiarity with long sales cycles and complex buying processes
