About Marston Holdings
Marston Holdings’ continued growth is supported by an established Technology division, which includes VidAlert. We are the UK’s leading supplier of intelligent traffic enforcement and management solutions and leading provider of smart city solutions that deliver the highest productivity at the lowest operational cost. We provide environmental sensors, networks, and data solutions to support decarbonisation efforts globally. We drive real environmental change by leveraging the power of real-time data with cleantech technologies.
About The Role
We’re looking for a driven Business Development Manager to grow VidAlert across your region.
You’ll own the full sales cycle — winning new business, building Local Authority relationships, presenting solutions, negotiating and closing deals. You’ll also identify opportunities to cross-sell wider Marston Holdings software and BPO solutions.
If you’re hungry to win, commercially sharp and ready to own your territory, this is your opportunity to make it yours.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and execute a territory strategy to achieve and exceed sales targets across your region.
- Proactively identify, qualify and develop new business with Local Authorities.
- Own the full sales life cycle, from prospecting and discovery through to demonstrations, proposals, negotiation and contract close.
- Build strong relationships and network through regular face-to-face meetings with customers and key stakeholders.
- Maintain an accurate, healthy sales pipeline.
- Identify cross selling and upselling opportunities across the wider Marston Holdings portfolio.
- Collaborate across the Group to maximise opportunities and deliver the best solutions for customers.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activity and developments within the Local Authority and traffic technology sectors.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, reporting and updates to sales leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
