An innovative advanced engineering group which specialises in developing bespoke solutions and technologies for use in the aerospace, defence, marine and high technology sectors has two new vacancies for Business Development Manager’s to grow their presence in the Defence & Marine sectors.

Joining a collaborative and forward-thinking company which is recognised as a great place to work, you will partner with the engineering, technical and project delivery teams and will be responsible for developing opportunities from initial client engagement through to proposal, negotiation and contract award. The two positions will focus on either the Defence or Marine sectors and candidates are sought with a good network and understanding of these sectors and a genuine passion for innovation.

The Role

  • Develop and implement a business development strategy for the defence or marine sectors.
  • Identify new clients, markets, projects and strategic opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline and accurately forecast future opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Represent the company at meetings, networking events and industry functions.
  • Act as a senior commercial point of contact for key defence and marine clients.
  • Develop trusted relationships with decision-makers, technical authorities, procurement teams and senior management.
  • Understand client requirements and translate them into commercially viable engineering solutions.
  • Lead or support responses to RFQs, tenders and framework opportunities.
  • Develop proposals, presentations and capability statements.

  • Proven experience in business development, sales or a related commercial role.
  • An established network of relevant defence or marine industry contacts and network.
  • Demonstrable experience developing new business and converting opportunities into contracts.
  • Experience working with technically complex products, projects or engineering services.
  • Experience preparing or supporting tenders, proposals and commercial submissions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build credibility with senior technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project profitability.
  • A genuine passion for growth, innovation and delivering results.
