Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Business Development Manager role based in Scotland, United Kingdom. The Business Development Manager will identify and pursue new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships with key clients and partners, and develop strategies to expand the company’s presence in the utilities market. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching market trends, qualifying leads, preparing proposals and presentations, negotiating contracts, and tracking sales performance. The role also involves collaborating with operations, finance, and senior leadership to ensure that customer solutions are aligned with company capabilities and commercial goals. The successful candidate will be expected to represent the company professionally at client meetings, industry events, and site visits.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably within the utilities or related infrastructure sectors.
- Strong skills in market research, opportunity identification, and pipeline management to drive sustainable revenue growth.
- Proficiency in relationship building, stakeholder management, and client communication across diverse customer groups.
- Ability to prepare and deliver clear proposals, presentations, and reports, with strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Solid commercial and financial awareness, including understanding of pricing, margins, and contract terms.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on meeting targets and managing multiple projects.
- Comfort with common business tools and CRM systems to track activities, forecast results, and maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of the Scottish waste industry regulations, and tender processes is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and travel to client locations as required.
