Business Development Manager, UK & Ireland

πŸ’Ό Sales | πŸ“ UK & Ireland | 🏠 Full-Time, Remote (with regular travel across the region)

UpsellGuru started 10 years ago when three hospitality people asked a pretty simple question: why isn't there an easy, exciting way to do upselling in hotels? Today we cover the whole guest journey, pre-arrival, on-arrival and in-stay, and over 1,000 hotels across 50 countries use us to make more money by making guests happier, which, it turns out, is a genuinely good business model πŸ’°

We're looking for someone to own UK&I. This isn't a role where someone hands you a lead list and a script. You'll build your own pipeline from scratch, in your own way. Whoever takes this on gets real ownership over their market and the freedom to figure out what works, as long as the numbers show up at the end of it πŸ”‘

🀝 The people you'd be working with

We're a team of 30+ now, people with backgrounds across hotel operations, technology, revenue management and customer success, all genuinely into hospitality. Our co-founders are still very hands-on and easy to talk to, no layers of bureaucracy between you and the people making decisions. We believe life comes before work, not the other way round, so this is a team that trusts you to manage your own time and get real results without burning out.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer β€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

🎯 Where you'll have impact

  • Own your market. UK&I is yours. You decide which hotel groups, management companies and ownership groups are worth your time, and you build the plan to go after them.
  • Build your own pipeline. No one's handing you a lead list. You'll prospect however works for you: research, LinkedIn, hotel visits, industry events, your own network. However you get there, get there.
  • Run the deal end to end. Get in front of the right people (GMs, revenue managers, whoever actually signs off), make the case with real numbers, the revenue potential, the ROI, and carry it through to close.
  • Be out in the market. Hotel visits, industry events, the odd conference conversation that turns into a deal six months later. If you like being behind a desk all day, this probably isn't for you.
  • Grow with us. We're not a huge company, so this role won't stay the same shape for long. As we grow across the UK and Ireland, the scope of what you're doing grows with it, and there's a real path to more responsibility (and more team) for whoever does this well πŸš€
