Business Development Manager

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum + bonus + benefits
Location: UK-based | Hybrid/Travel as required
Sector: Intralogistics / Materials Handling / Automation

Do you thrive on building relationships with senior decision-makers and turning market opportunities into profitable, long-term partnerships? If so, this may be the role for you.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a commercially driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to develop new and existing customer relationships and deliver agreed sales targets across new project business.

This is a strategic, consultative sales role, where you will:

  • Identify and develop target accounts
  • Understand customer challenges
  • Work closely with our internal technical, solutions, and project teams to create compelling propositions that deliver real business value

You will play a key role in positioning our client as a supplier of choice within the materials handling and intralogistics industry, securing profitable new contracts and developing long-term relationships with key customers.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Identify target accounts and develop strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Generate and convert profitable new business opportunities across complex project environments.
  • Qualify sales enquiries and work with the General Manager and wider business to determine the best approach.
  • Lead customer presentations and coordinate presentation teams to deliver compelling propositions.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality proposals, commercial information, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer requirements, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.
  • Use your network and market knowledge to provide valuable intelligence on customers, competitors, and suppliers.
  • Attend exhibitions, conferences, and industry events, building the company's profile and developing new opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline information, and progress reports.
  • Develop strategic approaches for key multi-site accounts, identifying opportunities for long-term growth and partnership.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver the best possible customer outcomes.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Your Experience:

  • Proven experience in a Business Development, Strategic Sales, or similar commercial role.
  • A track record of winning new business and developing major customer accounts.
  • Experience selling complex, consultative, or project-based solutions.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Experience presenting proposals and solutions to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of the sales process, from initial opportunity identification through to contract award.
  • Experience within intralogistics, materials handling, warehouse automation, engineering, systems integration, technology, or a related sector would be highly advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of IT and technology within a modern business environment.
  • The ability to understand technical concepts and translate them into compelling commercial propositions.
