PFC Careers are working with a centrally based medium sized building contractor to recruit a Business Development Manager on a permanent basis.

The client are an established and growing main contractor operating throughout Central Scotland, delivering high-quality new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects with values up to £3 million.

Working across both the public and private sectors, they have built a strong reputation for quality, reliability and collaborative working. As they continue to grow, they are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help increase the pipeline of opportunities and strengthen relationships across the construction industry.

The Role

They are looking for a well-connected construction professional who can identify, develop and secure new business opportunities across Central Scotland.

The successful candidate will utilise their existing network and industry knowledge to generate opportunities, build relationships with key decision-makers and support the company’s growth strategy.

This role is ideally suited to someone from a contractor, consultancy, estimating, pre-construction, project management or business development background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across public and private sectors.
  • Build Relationships With
    • Housing Associations
    • Local Authorities
    • Developers
    • Property Consultants
    • Architects
    • Quantity Surveyors
    • Project Managers
  • Generate qualified leads for projects ranging from £500k to £3m.
  • Arrange and attend client and consultant meetings.
  • Identify framework and procurement opportunities.
  • Support bid and tender strategy.
  • Promote the company’s services and capabilities across the Central Belt.
  • Maintain and develop a live pipeline of opportunities.
  • Provide monthly business development reporting to directors.

Ideal Candidate

Interested in speaking with individuals who have:

  • A proven track record in construction business development.
  • Strong industry connections throughout Scotland.
  • Experience within a main contractor, consultancy or developer environment.
  • Knowledge of public procurement and framework opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A strong understanding of the Scottish construction market.
  • The ability to work independently and deliver measurable results.

Desirable Experience

  • Main contracting background.
  • Pre-construction or estimating experience.
  • Knowledge of Public Contracts Scotland.
  • Existing relationships with housing associations and local authority estates teams.
  • Experience securing negotiated and invited tender opportunities.
