Business Development Manager (Open)

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated Business Development Manager who would support the sales of our small plastic and other portfolio products in the UK.

If you are a self-starter with experience in the packaging industry or plastics, this is the opportunity for you to upscale your career and join a future-facing company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities across the UK.
  • Build and grow market knowledge within the small plastics sector.
  • Manage and develop existing customer relationships to maximise retention and growth.
  • Create compelling customer value propositions and commercial offers.
  • Prepare pricing quotations and negotiate commercial agreements.
  • Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Logistics and Finance teams to ensure outstanding customer support.
  • Deliver customer presentations, product demonstrations and solution proposals.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance and packaging recommendations to customers.
  • Champion Greif's product portfolio and communicate market and competitive insights.
  • Leverage Commercial Excellence tools to identify opportunities and drive performance.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Proven track record in business development and sales.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Ability and aptitude towards domestic, sometimes multi-day customer visits.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Highly organised with strong planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to generate leads, conduct prospecting activities and convert opportunities into profitable business.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, resilient and driven to achieve results.

Desirable

  • Experience within rigid plastics, industrial packaging, manufacturing or related sectors.
  • Technical sales experience.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent, preferably in a science-based discipline.
  • Experience selling into industrial markets.
