Business Development Manager
TAB Battery UK
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager who enjoys opening doors, winning new business and building strong customer relationships.
Ideally, you’ll have sales experience in material handling, plant, ground support equipment, cleaning machines or powered access, but we’re also keen to hear from people with experience in capital equipment sales.
You bring the sales skills and willingness to learn — we’ll teach you about batteries. You’ll receive product training and support from our National Sales Manager and technical team to help you develop in the role.
What you’ll be doing
- Identifying and winning new business through prospecting, door knocking, customer visits, calls and follow-ups.
- Building and managing a sales pipeline, taking opportunities from the first conversation through to order.
- Developing existing customer relationships and identifying opportunities to grow sales.
- Understanding customers’ equipment and requirements, working with our technical team to recommend suitable batteries, chargers and service packages.
- Preparing quotations and negotiating within agreed pricing guidelines.
- Working towards agreed sales and margin targets.
- Promoting our maintenance and field service support alongside our products.
- Working closely with sales support, service and operations to ensure customer requirements are clearly communicated and delivered.
- Keeping customer records and sales opportunities up to date.
- Providing weekly sales reports covering activity, opportunities and progress.
- Representing TAB Battery UK at exhibitions, industry events and customer meetings.
- Completing weekly company vehicle checks, submitting monthly personal mileage and reporting any driving licence changes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
