About Us
Boutique Marquees is a leading provider of luxury Sperry Tents, creating spectacular, bespoke spaces for weddings, private celebrations and prestigious events across the UK. Renowned for craftsmanship, style and an unforgettable guest experience, we are now looking to expand beyond our established wedding business into new markets and revenue streams.
The Role
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Business Development Manager to drive growth outside of our core wedding client base. You will identify, pursue and win new business across venue partnerships, wedding planner relationships, corporate work and other high-value event opportunities, playing a central role in shaping the next phase of the company's growth.
This is, first and foremost, a lead generation and sales conversion role. A significant part of your time will be spent proactively sourcing new leads and picking up the phone to prospect, qualify and convert them into bookings. The role includes a substantial telesales element, and you should be confident, resilient and genuinely comfortable making outbound calls as a core part of your day-to-day activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively generate new leads through research, networking, outbound calling and other prospecting activity, building and maintaining a strong, consistent sales pipeline.
- Carry out regular outbound telesales calls to prospective venues, planners, corporate contacts and private clients — converting cold, warm and inbound leads into confirmed bookings.
- Develop and win new venue partnerships for both long-term and short-term Sperry Tent hire, including exclusive or preferred-supplier arrangements.
- Build strong relationships with wedding planners and introducers to generate a consistent pipeline of referred business.
- Win new corporate clients, including brand activations, product launches, corporate hospitality and staff events.
- Develop private and individual client business for garden parties, milestone celebrations and other bespoke events.
- Proactively identify and approach relevant businesses, event production companies, festival organisers and other prospective clients across the events sector.
- Work with the Directors to create and deliver out-of-season and non-wedding revenue streams, maximising utilisation of stock year-round.
- Manage the end-to-end client journey for all non-wedding bookings — from first enquiry and quotation through to contract and handover — working closely with the Operations Manager.
- Identify and act on upsell and cross-sell opportunities across the full product range.
- Use Current-RMS (our event management software) for all quoting, bookings and stock management, completing relevant training as required.
- Develop a thorough working knowledge of our products, including how Sperry Tents are installed and de-rigged, to speak credibly with clients and partners.
- Contribute ideas and suggest improvements to working methods and processes, playing an active role in driving the business forward.
- Produce regular sales reports and pipeline data for the Directors, and act proactively on insights from that data.
- Represent Boutique Marquees at industry events, trade shows and networking opportunities to build the brand's profile in new markets.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required by the Company.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
