Business Development Manager – Apprenticeships

Potential annual earnings of up to £70,600 based on 12 starts per month with no commission threshold, fully remote working and genuine flexibility around your working day.

We’re looking for an experienced apprenticeship BDM to join a newly established apprenticeship training provider at a really exciting stage in its journey.

Over the last year, the business has focused on getting the foundations right across its delivery, technology, tutors, processes and wider learner experience, achieving a Good Ofsted rating in the process. At the same time, and without a formal sales function, they’ve organically grown to around 400 learners on programme across approximately 40 employers.

That momentum is continuing, with a strong level of employer activity already underway. Some large employers are currently progressing towards sign-up, and, at the time we took the vacancy, eight AI apprenticeship sign-ups were expected that week alone.

With the foundations in place and employer demand already being generated, they’re now ready to welcome an experienced BDM who can take ownership of new business, bring their own ideas and experience, and play a part in how the sales function develops from here.

Who Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for someone with at least two years’ experience selling apprenticeships to employers and a strong track record in new business.

You’ll already understand the apprenticeship market and know what it takes to build a pipeline, open employer relationships and convert opportunities into starts. You’ll be commercially driven and comfortable working autonomously, while enjoying the opportunity to have real ownership over your role.

The Role

Your core focus will be new business, generating your own opportunities, building a sustainable pipeline and winning new employer relationships.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

That said, you won’t be starting with a cold desk. Because of the activity already being generated across the business, there will be employer opportunities in progress for you to pick up and work with when you join, giving you something to get stuck into while you establish your own pipeline.

As you become established, the expectation is that you’ll be generating your own opportunities and building a sustainable new-business pipeline.

Your business focus will be medium to large employers, with enterprise-level organisations sitting outside the core remit of this role. You’ll be selling across a portfolio including:

  • Children and Young People (CYP)
  • Early Years
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Once you win an employer, you’ll retain ownership of the account for the first 12 months, allowing you to continue developing the relationship, with any additional apprenticeship starts generated during that period remaining attributable to you. After 12 months, the established account will move across to the Account Manager for ongoing management and growth.

Targets are based on the financial value of apprenticeship starts, rather than a fixed number of learners. As a guide, full target equates to approximately 12 starts per month on lower-value programmes or eight on higher-value programmes, and you’ll have a four-month build-up to full target.

Commission and Earning Potential

There’s no minimum commission threshold, so you’ll earn commission from your very first apprenticeship start, with an uncapped scheme paying between £150 and £400 per start depending on programme value.

For example:

  • CYP, Early Years and Teaching Assistant = £150 per start
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) = £400 per start

Based on an expected programme mix of approximately 75% CYP, Early Years and Teaching Assistant and 25% AI, the average commission would be around £212.50 per start. At 12 starts per month, this would give you approximately:

Travel

Although the role is fully remote, there will be some travel to meet employer clients where required, alongside a regional meeting once per quarter. All required business travel is paid, with access to train and hotel booking platforms.

Flexibility

There’s also real flexibility around how you structure your working day. If you need to start earlier or later, or work around commitments such as school runs, that’s absolutely fine. You’ll have plenty of support, but you’ll also be trusted to manage your own time and deliver.

Apply Now

For an experienced apprenticeship BDM, it’s a really exciting time to join. You’ll be coming into a provider that has already achieved a Good Ofsted rating and grown to around 400 learners without a formal sales function, but is still early enough in its journey that your experience and ideas can have an impact.

Add to that potential annual earnings of up to £70,600 based on 12 starts per month and the expected programme mix, commission from your first start, remote and flexible working, and employer opportunities waiting for you when you join, and there’s a lot here for the right BDM to get excited about.
