Role Overview

Sandland Packaging is seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to develop new business opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of the company.

The role will focus primarily on identifying, developing, and winning new customers across Sandland Packaging's range of corrugated packaging solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the complete new-business sales process, from prospecting and initial contact through to quotation, trial, negotiation, and account conversion.

This is a field-based sales role requiring regular customer visits and proactive development of a strong sales pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and target new business opportunities within agreed markets and geographical areas.
  • Develop a strong and sustainable pipeline of prospective customers.
  • Proactively generate leads through telephone, email, networking, referrals, and face-to-face prospecting.
  • Arrange and conduct customer meetings and site visits.
  • Understand customers' packaging requirements, applications, and commercial objectives.
  • Work with Sandland's internal design, estimating, production, and technical teams to develop appropriate packaging solutions.
  • Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and commercial offers.
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms within agreed company parameters.
  • Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through sampling, trials, and final conversion.
  • Maintain regular contact with prospects and manage appropriate follow-up activity.
  • Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Identify opportunities to increase customer spend through additional products and packaging solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, opportunities, quotations, and pipeline value.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and new-business updates to the Sales Director.
  • Monitor competitor activity and identify emerging opportunities within the market.
  • Represent Sandland Packaging professionally at customer meetings, exhibitions, and industry events.
  • Work closely with the wider sales team to ensure new customers are successfully introduced and developed.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
