Business Development Manager (BDM) – Construction Technology

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their high-performing commercial team.

The BDM will be responsible for generating new business opportunities with mid-market construction companies (main contractors, house builders, sub contractors). You’ll manage the sales process from initial prospecting through to close.

The role is available on a hybrid or remote basis depending on candidate location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the construction industry.
  • Generate your own new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, research, networking and other B2B sales channels.
  • Engage with senior decision-makers across construction businesses.
  • Manage the full business development and sales cycle, from initial prospecting and qualification through to negotiation and close.
  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand customer requirements, business challenges and construction technology needs.
  • Deliver compelling software demonstrations and presentations to prospective construction clients.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing construction accounts.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing, Presales and other internal teams to maximise new business opportunities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the construction software, Construction Tech and wider construction technology market.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction industry trends, technology developments and competitor activity.
  • Build long-term relationships with key stakeholders across prospective and existing construction accounts.
  • Accurately maintain CRM activity, sales pipelines and customer information.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years' experience in software sales, B2B sales or business development, managing the full sales cycle.
  • Proven experience generating new business leads through proactive outbound sales activity.
  • Experience selling Construction Tech, construction software or wider technology solutions into the construction industry is essential.
  • Experience selling to mid-market construction businesses is advantageous.
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation and closing skills.

Package

  • Basic salary: circa £50,000–£55,000
  • OTE: Up to 2x basic salary
