Business Development Manager - Water Treatment Solutions

Are you a Business Development Manager with experience selling engineered or industrial solutions into manufacturing or process industries? This is an opportunity to combine technical sales with genuine long-term career progression within a specialist water treatment business.

BASIC SALARY: Up to £55,000

LOCATION: This is a hybrid role, you must be commutable to our office in Hertfordshire.

Commutable Locations: Luton, Stevenage, Bedford, Cambridge, St Albans, Milton Keynes, Hemel Hempstead, Northampton

Job Description: Technical Sales Manager, Business Development Manager - Water Treatment, Process Equipment

As our Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for driving new business growth whilst developing an established customer base across the UK. Working with Engineering Managers, procurement professionals, and business owners, you'll provide technically engineered water treatment solutions into industrial and process markets.

Initially, your focus will be approximately 70% account management and 30% new business development, building long-term customer relationships and identifying opportunities to grow revenue. As your knowledge of the business develops, you'll gain increasing exposure to commercial strategy, operations, and business management as part of a planned succession programme.

You Will

  • Sell technically engineered water treatment and process equipment solutions into industrial markets.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage opportunities through to completion.
  • Work closely with technical colleagues and manufacturing partners to deliver the right solution for every customer.
  • Contribute towards future business growth through market development, commercial strategy, and long-term planning.

Person Specification: Technical Sales Manager, Business Development Manager - Water Treatment, Process Equipment

You'll enjoy building long-term customer relationships and be motivated by winning new business. You're commercially aware, naturally curious, and keen to develop your career beyond sales, with an interest in understanding how a successful engineering business operates. Previous experience within water treatment would be beneficial, but we're equally interested in candidates from other technical or industrial sales backgrounds who can demonstrate a consultative approach and the ambition to progress.

You'll Also Have

  • A successful track record of generating new business whilst developing existing customer relationships.
  • Experience selling engineered products, capital equipment, or technical solutions into industrial markets.
  • The ability to understand technically complex products and recommend the right solution for each customer.
