Business Development Manager - Cable & Electrical Products

We are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to grow our Cable and Electrical product portfolio across Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales professional to play a key role in expanding our presence across established and emerging markets, including Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, EPC, Marine, and New Energy sectors.

Working closely with the Area Sales Director, you will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships and managing sales activities that support long-term business growth.

This role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, developing new business and working with customers on complex, project-driven sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Promote, position, and grow our Cable and Electrical product portfolio across Scotland.
  • Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, EPCs, Marine and New Energy sectors.
  • Develop and maintain a structured sales pipeline, targeting both existing accounts and new strategic customers.
  • Support long-cycle project pursuits, framework agreements, tenders, and multi-stakeholder sales campaigns.
  • Conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.

Customer Engagement & Account Management

  • Plan and execute weekly customer visits and engagement activities.
  • Build strong relationships with key decision-makers, procurement teams, engineering stakeholders and project managers within allocated accounts.
  • Deliver effective, professional presentations to promote company capabilities, solutions, and value propositions.
  • Provide regular updates to the Area Sales Director and internal teams on account progress, customer issues, and commercial opportunities.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with internal sales, operations, procurement, and technical teams to ensure effective follow-up on quotations and enquiries.
  • Collaborate with the Area Sales Director on forecasting, budgeting, strategic plans, and business objectives.
  • Submit weekly sales call reports, visit updates, and opportunity identification summaries.
  • Recommend new products, services, or solutions that align with customer needs or emerging market demands.

Market Representation

  • Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and sector forums to expand visibility and generate new leads.
  • Build and maintain networks across developers, OEMs, EPCs, and operators within both traditional and new energy markets.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in external sales, ideally within cable, electrical, mechanical or tooling product lines.
  • Strong customer and account knowledge within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or EPC environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • High level of organisation, time management, and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM systems.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn, develop and progress within a large global organisation.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of hazardous area electrical products (ATEX/IECEx).
  • Experience or strong interest in New Energy markets such as wind, hydrogen, CCUS, utilities or decommissioning.
  • Ability to manage multi-stakeholder technical or project-driven sales cycles.
