Business Development Manager
Industrial Distribution | OEM & Manufacturing | North Midlands / North West (Flexible)
£50,000 - £60,000 + Bonus + Company Car/Allowance + Excellent Benefits
Are you an experienced Business Development or Key Account professional selling into manufacturing, engineering or industrial customers?
We're working with a global market-leading distributor and supply chain solutions provider to recruit a Business Development Manager, supporting manufacturing and OEM customers across the North Midlands and North West.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that sells solutions rather than simply products, helping customers improve efficiency, reduce costs and streamline procurement through innovative inventory management and integrated supply solutions.
The Role
This is a field-based position with approximately 70% travel, covering an established territory across the North Midlands and North West.
The role will involve approximately:
- 70% new business development
- 30% developing and growing existing customer relationships

You'll work closely with manufacturing and industrial customers to understand their operational challenges before delivering tailored solutions around procurement, inventory management and supply chain optimisation.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities across manufacturing, OEM and industrial customers.
- Grow existing customer relationships through consultative account management.
- Build strong relationships with Procurement, Engineering, Maintenance and Operations teams.
- Identify opportunities to reduce customer costs and improve operational efficiency.
- Promote value-added services including:
- Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
- Inventory Management
- Industrial Vending
- Integrated Supply Solutions
- Procurement & Supply Chain Solutions
- Deliver presentations, customer reviews and commercial proposals.
- Work collaboratively with internal technical and commercial teams to deliver the best customer solutions.
We're looking for someone with experience in:
- Industrial Distribution
- MRO
- OEM
- Engineering Consumables
- Electrical Products
- Fasteners
- PPE
- Bearings, Power Transmission or Industrial Components

You'll ideally have:
- Proven Business Development or Key Account Management experience.
- Experience selling into manufacturing, industrial or OEM customers.
- A consultative sales approach with strong relationship-building skills.
- Experience identifying customer challenges and delivering value-added solutions.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate and grow customer spend.
- Comfortable managing your own territory and travelling extensively.
Package
- £50,000-£60,000 basic salary
