Business Development Manager, part time

The Company

ER Recruitment are delighted to be working exclusively with an established and successful professional services business based in Market Harborough, supporting clients across the UK.

With an impressive track record and a strong reputation within its market, the business is now looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to help build on its continued growth.

This is a newly focused opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the market, meeting people, developing relationships and identifying where new opportunities can be created. You’ll have the support of an experienced senior team behind you, but the freedom to take ownership of your own business development activity.

Role & Responsibilities Of The Business Development Manager

  • Proactively identify and approach new prospective clients, creating opportunities through networking, referrals, research and direct engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective, existing and previous clients, identifying opportunities for repeat and new business.
  • Manage and develop a clear pipeline of opportunities, ensuring leads are followed up and progressed effectively.
  • Meet with clients and prospects to understand their requirements and identify where the business can add value, working closely with the Directors and wider team to develop opportunities.
  • Support fee proposals and follow opportunities through to appointment, ensuring effective handover to the relevant team.
  • Identify relevant frameworks, tenders and other routes to market and work with the internal team to pursue appropriate opportunities.
  • Represent the business at relevant networking events and industry meetings, helping to raise its profile and develop new connections.
  • Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, market opportunities and progress to the senior team.

About You As The Business Development Manager

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, client relationship management or account development, ideally within professional services, construction, property, consultancy or a similar environment.
  • A confident and proactive approach to generating new business, you enjoy picking up the phone, making connections, arranging meetings and opening doors.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with decision-makers.
  • Commercially minded, organised and able to manage a pipeline of opportunities and prioritise your activity effectively.
  • A consultative approach to sales, with the ability to understand a client's needs and identify the right solution rather than simply sell a product.
  • Self-motivated, resilient and persistent, with the drive to keep opportunities moving even when the market is challenging.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to represent a business externally.

Additional Benefits

  • £40,000 FTE basic salary, pro rata
  • Performance-related commission linked to individual and company performance.
  • Flexible working pattern, approximately 22.5 hours per week across three days or flexibly over four/five days.
  • Opportunity to take genuine ownership of business development activity and make a visible contribution to the continued growth of an established business.
