Business Development Manager - Assessment

Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 dependant on experience + Uncapped Commission

Location: Birmingham is central location - ideally 2 to 3 days per week (willing to be flexible)

Role Purpose

Reporting to the UKI Head of Sales within the Industrial Sector, the Business Development Manager is responsible for winning new logos and project-based assessment work across priority Industrial markets. This is a growth-critical role focused on market entry, opportunity creation, and converting complex projects into long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and secure new logo clients for assessment services, with a strong focus on project-based opportunities
  • Develop and execute proactive business development strategies to penetrate this customer segment
  • Own the full sales lifecycle from lead generation through qualification, bid submission, negotiation and contract award
  • Build senior-level relationships with key stakeholders within target organisations
  • Lead and contribute to strategic bids and tenders, shaping technical scope, commercial strategy and value propositions
  • Collaborate with internal technical, operations, and delivery teams to ensure proposals are competitive, deliverable and margin-aligned
  • Maintain a robust new business pipeline with accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Maintain CRM hygiene, forecast accurately and contribute to sales reporting
  • Represent the business at industry events, conferences and client workshops

What You'll Bring

  • Proven success in winning new logo business and securing assessment-led projects in the Industrial environment
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of assessment/training opportunities
  • Experience selling into complex organisations
  • Demonstrable ability to originate and close high-value, project-based opportunities
  • Confidence presenting technical and commercial solutions to senior & executive stakeholders
  • Experience managing bids, tenders, and proposals, with a strong grasp of pricing strategy and margin control
