Role Description
The Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. This role focuses on identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, nurturing relationships with existing clients, and expanding Thor Fire Ltd’s presence across key sectors.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Prospecting and qualifying leads
- Preparing proposals and quotations
- Attending client meetings and site visits
- Collaborating with technical and operations teams to align solutions with client needs
- Tracking market trends
- Contributing to sales forecasts
- Managing a pipeline of opportunities
- Providing regular reporting on performance and targets
Qualifications
- Strong business development, sales, and account management skills, with experience building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
- Ability to identify market opportunities, develop growth strategies, and negotiate contracts and commercial terms.
- Knowledge of fire protection, building services, or related safety and compliance sectors is highly beneficial.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, including pipeline management, reporting, and use of CRM or sales tools.
- Proven ability to work independently on-site, travel to client locations as needed, and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
- Relevant experience in B2B sales or business development; a background in the UK fire safety or facilities management market is an advantage.
- Valid right to work in the UK; full driving license

Key Responsibilities
- Identify and target new commercial clients requiring fire protection servicing and maintenance.
- Develop new business opportunities through telephone prospecting, email, LinkedIn, networking, and face-to-face meetings.
- Target facilities management companies, property managers, commercial landlords, developers, contractors, and multi-site organizations.
- Identify customers with existing fire protection maintenance contracts and opportunities for THORFIRE to become their service provider.
- Build relationships with Facilities Managers, Estates Managers, Property Managers, Procurement Teams, and Directors.
- Arrange meetings, site visits, and surveys with prospective customers.
- Understand customer requirements and develop appropriate service solutions.
- Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and service agreements.
- Follow up opportunities and manage the sales process from initial contact through to contract award.
- Develop long-term relationships with new clients and identify additional service opportunities.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and CRM records.
- Achieve agreed sales, revenue, and new-contract targets.
- Monitor market activity and identify new sectors and commercial opportunities.
- Work closely with the engineering and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from sales to service delivery.

- Fire alarm servicing and maintenance
- Sprinkler servicing and maintenance
- Fire pump systems
- Wet and dry riser systems
- Fire extinguishers
- AOV systems
- PAVA systems
- Fire protection testing and inspection
- Reactive maintenance and repairs
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Emergency call-out support
- Nationwide fire protection service contracts
