Business Development Manager
This is a commercially focused role responsible for driving new business and growing existing accounts within Triangle Fire Systems retrofit and passive fire protection department. The Business Development Manager will identify and convert opportunities across the residential retrofit and fire remediation markets, building relationships with contractors, housing associations, local authorities, and main contractors. The role sits at the intersection of sales, technical knowledge, and client relationship management, and is central to the department's growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible for:
- Identifying, targeting, and converting new business opportunities in the retrofit sprinkler and fire remediation market, including compartmentation surveys, fire stopping, fire doors, sprinkler installations, and associated remediation works.
- Managing and growing a portfolio of existing client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for key accounts.
- Preparing and presenting tender submissions, proposals, and quotations in collaboration with the estimating and operations teams.
- Developing and maintaining a robust pipeline of opportunities, providing regular forecasting and reporting to senior management.
- Attending site visits, client meetings, and industry events to build market presence and stay current with sector developments, including changes to fire safety legislation and guidance.
- Working closely with the operations and project management teams to ensure a smooth handover from sale to delivery, and that client expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitoring competitor activity and market trends, feeding intelligence back into the department's commercial strategy.
- Representing Triangle Fire Systems at industry forums, trade associations, and networking events relevant to the passive fire protection and wider construction sector.

Person Specification
Essential
- Demonstrable track record in business development or sales within the passive fire protection, fire stopping, fire sprinklers, and wider fire safety sector.
- Sound understanding of passive fire protection systems, compartmentation principles, sprinkler systems, and the fire remediation market — including familiarity with the regulatory landscape following the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Experience of managing the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract award.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage credibly with contractors, specifiers, housing providers, and client-side project managers.
- Ability to prepare clear, commercially sound proposals and tender responses.
- Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to manage a varied workload and pipeline independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable
- Relevant qualification in fire safety, construction, or a related discipline (e.g., ASFP membership, IFE membership, BAFSA membership, or equivalent).
- Experience working with social housing providers, local authorities, or housing associations on remediation programmes, including sprinkler retrofit projects.
- Knowledge of BS 9251 (sprinkler systems for domestic and residential occupancies).
- Existing network of contacts within the retrofit, sprinkler, or passive fire protection market.
