Business Development Manager – Pumping Solutions

£65k–£75k Basic + £25k OTE + Package

An established engineering business with 20+ years of success in the UK pump market is looking to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Manager.

The company specialises in wastewater, drainage and underground pumping solutions, supplying into Tier 1 contractors, M&E contractors, civil engineering firms and major house builders across the UK.

This is a 70% new business / 30% account management role, focused on developing new relationships and expanding existing key accounts within the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

The Role

  • Drive new business across Tier 1 contractors, house builders, M&E contractors and civil engineering firms
  • Identify project opportunities across wastewater infrastructure, drainage systems, pump stations and water management solutions
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing key accounts
  • Work closely with technical and engineering teams to deliver pump systems, drainage solutions and wastewater technologies
  • Build long-term relationships with consultants, contractors, developers and utilities providers
  • Track project pipelines across construction, building services, civils and infrastructure markets

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical B2B sales role, ideally within pumping solutions, drainage systems, wastewater infrastructure, water utilities, civils, building services or mechanical engineering sectors
  • Proven background in business development and territory growth within engineering, construction or infrastructure markets
  • Must possess a strong network / “black book” of industry contacts that can be leveraged from day one
  • Existing relationships with Tier 1 contractors, M&E contractors, civil engineering contractors, utilities providers or national house builders would be highly advantageous
  • Experience selling pump systems, drainage products, wastewater solutions, water management systems or related mechanical / environmental infrastructure technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to identify project opportunities, influence key stakeholders and secure specification-led projects
  • Comfortable engaging with consultants, project managers, engineers and procurement teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Self-motivated, commercially driven and capable of opening new markets and securing long-term commercial partnerships
