Position: Business Development Manager – Solar PV & Renewables

Region: Northern England (M62 Corridor, South to Stoke-on-Trent & Across to Nottingham)

Sector: Solar Systems

Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 + Bonus + Company Car / Allowance + Excellent Benefits

Business Development Manager – Solar PV & Renewable Energy

The Opportunity

Renewable energy continues to be one of the fastest-growing sectors within the UK construction industry, and our client is investing heavily to strengthen its position within the Solar PV market.

As one of the UK’s leading distributors of building materials, construction products and renewable energy solutions, our client is seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager to drive the continued growth of its Solar PV division across the Northern region.

Covering the M62 corridor, south to Stoke-on-Trent and across to Nottingham, you’ll be responsible for developing new business, strengthening existing customer relationships and increasing sales across a diverse customer base.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you’ll take ownership of your territory, developing sales of Solar PV systems, renewable energy products and associated construction solutions.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Identifying and securing new business opportunities across the Northern region.
  • Developing long-term relationships with existing customers to maximise account growth.
  • Promoting Solar PV, renewable energy and associated construction products.
  • Working with a wide range of customers including:
    • Solar PV installers
    • Roofing contractors
    • Electrical contractors
    • Builders’ merchants
    • Property developers
    • Regional and National Housebuilders
    • Main contractors
    • Local Authorities
    • Housing Associations
  • Identifying projects at specification, tender and installation stage.
  • Delivering product demonstrations, commercial presentations and technical solutions.
  • Collaborating with internal branch, technical and product management teams.
  • Managing sales forecasts, customer activity and pipeline performance.
  • Keeping abreast of market trends, competitor activity and emerging renewable technologies.

The Person

We’re looking for a commercially driven sales professional with a passion for developing business and building long-term customer relationships.

You’ll ideally have experience working with contractors, developers, merchants, housebuilders, installers or specification-led construction projects.

To Be Successful You’ll Demonstrate

  • A proven track record in business development or technical sales.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and convert opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong territory planning and account development skills.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for renewable energy and sustainable construction.
